Summer Lovin', had me a blast!
I have resigned myself to the fact that my blog partner, Ron, and I will most likely write about much different things most of the time. No big deal. In fact, although our interest are pretty similar (movies, music, high-def audio), we definitely tend to write about different types of things. Hope you all like it. I can’t speak for Ron’s wife , but I think mine likes the fact that I have someone to talk to about the “mind-numbing” interests that I have that she couldn’t care less about. Big thanks from Erin.
Just wanted to write a quick entry about the things I’m excited for this summer, as far as movies are concerned. Nothing fancy, just a blurb about each. I won’t include The Hobbit, the next James Bond (Skyfall), or Django Unchained. I’m sure you’ll hear about all those later. Looks to be a summer of heroes and great directors (or both, in several cases). Here goes:
1: The Dark Knight Rises - The first 2 entries on this list are in a dead heat for the ones I’m most excited for. I got my fun filled, comic-book movie already with The Avengers. Now I’m ready for something more adult and heady. Christopher Nolan has yet to disappoint me, and Bane and Catwoman look to be fantastic.
Prometheus - Ridley Scott and and prequel-that’s-not-a-prequel to Alien. Where do I sign up?
Moonrise Kingdom - Wes Anderson could find a way to make any movie quirky and entertaining. The trailers for this have been great, and I went back and watched Rushmore again just to get ready for this.
Brave - Pixar, what more do I need to say? Plus, I’m certain that this is a movie about my daughter.
The Bourne Legacy - Jeremy Renner may be catching up to Jason Statham in the current generation of action hero. But he’ll never catch up if he doesn’t make 50+ direct to video masterpieces a year.
The Amazing Spider Man - Hard to follow Sam Raimi, but the trailers look great. I also like the smart-ass Spidey from my youth.
Cosmopolis - You had me at David Cronenberg. Looks like a return to the insanity of the past. Looks so good I can even handle the leading man role of a certain sparkly vampire.
Men in Black III - I was totally on the fence about this, but then I saw Josh Brolin channel Tommy Lee Jones. Looks like a lot of fun.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter- One of my favorite visual directors and an absolutely insane story. Got a couple of butterflies for the pure silliness of it.
Total Recall - Can they pull it off? I love the original, when Arnold Schwarzenneger and Paul Verhoeven were at their peak. I hope so.
Savages - Oliver Stone, I’d love to have you over to talk about how much I love your films. We’ll throw a couple of steaks on the grill and enjoy a couple beers. Cannot wait to see this on the big screen.
Holy crap, I’m gonna be busy this summer!

you like all of Oliver Stone's films? How about the second Wall Street film?.... blah...
ReplyDeleteI'll give you that, but as a whole, the man has had a pretty admirable career. As Primus says, "Not every one's a zinger"!
