Oh my gosh! Avengers movie spoilers!

I'm a bit of a liar. I don't want to spoil the movie for you. In fact I want you to see it. If you have even one iota of comic book geek in you at all, you must see this movie. It is the movie I've been waiting for since I was seven years old. Please don't let that statement make you think that I don't love and appreciate Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. In fact, it's amazing. I also love the X-Men movies (including the much hated Wolverine). As campy as they are, I really enjoyed all the Superman movies. It's a great time to be a fan.

I caught The Avengers last night and, for the first time in quite a while, I grinned, laughed and thought, over and over again, "I can't wait to see this with both my sons". My 16 year old saw it with me, but my 11 year old is gonna love it, too. As an old man, it's really difficult to find movies to share with my kids. Some of my favorites are way too adult for both of them (The Alien franchise and any slasher flick, to name a couple). There are multiple times in the movie that I laughed out loud and looked over to see Connor doing the same. Most involved the Hulk (Smash!). Just go see it, if you're inclined.

Bravo to Joss Whedon! Bravo to Zak Penn! Heck, let me just congratulate everyone involved in the movie. For the second time in a week I was dazzled by a film. That's all I really wanted to say. I hope it makes boatloads of money and a sequel is as much fun.

By the way, the second movie is Cabin in The Woods. Well worth your time if you're a fan of horror or sci-fi. If not, you may miss some of the fun. Don't read any spoilers for this before you see it. You'll thank me for that advice later. Both movies made me feel like a kid again, although "Cabin" did it in an R rated way.

It's a good time to be alive and watching movies!
