Show me the money!
I've begun thinking about the Comic Con this summer. No, not the galaxy sized extravaganza in San Diego, but the more modest (and much nearer one) in Chicago. I took my two sons and some homeless kid last year, and we had a great time. (OK, he wasn't a homeless kid…Sorry Jake). I went to San Diego a few times in the 90s and it was overwhelming and awesome. Since I've moved from the West Coast to the Midwest, I've had the pleasure of going to the smaller, more intimate version of the Comic-Con.
I met quite a few people that made my whole trip worthwhile: Louis Gosset Jr., Mike Grell, the Boondock Saint's stars, Peter Tork, "Hacksaw" Duggan, Lou Ferrigno and a lot of the Walking Dead cast, just to name a few.
Here are a few pictures from last year:
Before we even got out of the garage, we ran into a couple X-men
Lots of great costumes.
The coolest family in the universe (besides my own). I wish my parents were The Vision and Scarlet Witch. Heck, I wish I were Captain America...
But I did get to help the real Cap fight nazis. I look like a tiny boy compared to him.
My son Christian had a great time. Here's him with some Ghostbusters...
A Dalek...
And some Suicide Girls!
My older son Connor was denied when trying to get close to the girls because he was "too young". Upon finding this out, Christian wanted to go back, again and again. Who am I to stop my youngest boy from rubbing this is the face of his older brother?
Zombies were everywhere! Unfortunately, in this picture, it looks like I may be losing control of my bowels.
We went to a presentation of the 'Musical of The Living Dead' from Chicago. Had a great time! They open in October for 2012 and I highly recommend it. Also they will be on the road for the first time this year. Check 'em out at http://www.musicalofthelivingdead.com/ .
Then there was the most horrifying part of the trip!
Can't wait until August 9th-12th!
