I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.....
I am a movie apologist. I’ll admit it. I take just as much pleasure from the latest Michael Bay explosion-fest than I do from Wings of Desire. I love them both. One’s a working man’s Pilsner and the other is a hoppy delicious microbrew. Both are pretty damn cool, and I will argue the finer points of either.
I watch movies with the same doe eyed wonder as a Golden Corral groupie checking out the prime rib. Let me explain: A couple of weekends ago I put off watching Seven Samurai so I could catch Crow: City of Angels. I love the music, and Iggy Pop is absolutely crazy in this one. Stop thinking the bad thoughts I know you feel toward me right now. I realize it’s not even a shadow of the first Crow, but let me throw this out to you. How can anyone fully hate Mia Kirshner in anything?
Another thing: What’s so bad about popcorn movies? I love going to the theatre, loading up on some popcorn and soda, and letting my eyes binge on CG, questionable comedies, and sci-fi. I don’t need ‘art’ but I love it just as much. Malik’s Tree of Life skipped us here in Springfield, IL, but I can’t wait to see it. I’ve loved his other movies (Days of Heaven and Thin Red Line, The New World) and I know the new one is gonna rock.
I’ll keep this first post short and I won’t get all stream of consciousness on everybody. Hopefully we’ll talk again soon. Feel free to comment and I’ll talk to you later.
